Directed By: Ronald Crystal, M.D. Chief, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
Research efforts in Dr. Crystal’s laboratory were initially focused on gene therapy research. Specifically, the gene therapy program did pioneering work in using a virus to deliver genes to the respiratory tract in the first attempt to cure cystic fibrosis in humans. The research efforts have since expanded to multiple projects supported by the Will Rogers Institute:
- Anti-bioterrorism
- Gene therapy for pulmonary disorders
- Wound healing
- Coagulation disorders
- Cancer
